Douglas County Oregon

Douglas County was created on January 7, 1852, out of a portion of Umpqua County lying east of the Coast Range. It was named to honor U. S. Senator Stephen A. Douglas of Illinois, who was an advocate for Oregon statehood.

Currently, Douglas County covers 5,071 square miles and is bounded by Jackson, Curry and Josephine Counties \to the south; Klamath to the east; Lane to the north; and Coos County and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

Douglas county has it all, for tourism and recreation. The Umpqua Valley wine country, world class fishing from the Umpqua river and fantastic winter and summer recreation destinations from the beach to the mountains. This is a great place to live or visit!
