Welcome to the Tutorials

Welcome . . .

To what I hope to be several 'No Fear' tutorials for those of you wanting to learn how to use computers with ease. You'll be happy to learn that it's really pretty simple when you learn the basics and layer new skills on top of a solid foundation.

The problem with using computers comes in when you try to learn a new skill on top of incomplete basic skills. Self teaching can be hard going, takes a lot of time, and leaves you with an incomplete understanding of how the software works. You'll find things 'just happen' out of your control as if by magic. All classic signs of learning on top of a weak foundation.

Because the tutorials will build on each other, the instructions will get shorter and shorter assuming more skill and knowledge on the part of the reader. To get the most out of these tutorials its best to start with the tutorial just below your competent skill level and work up from there.

The Windows Primer makes sure you are ready for the tutorials. If you haven't had a lot of experience with Windows based computers you will want to start here before going on.

The Windows 95, 98, & NT Basics tutorial is designed to cover all the foundational 'Windows' operating system skills in the following eight lessons.

~

Lesson 1 - The Desktop ~ Taskbar ~ Icons
Lesson 2 - Start Button ~ windows ~ Keyboard & Mouse
Lesson 3 - Group selection ~ Explorer ~ Find File
Lesson 4 - File management
Lesson 5 - Window's accessory programs
Lesson 6 - Customizing: the Desktop, Start Menus ~ Screen capture
Lesson 7 - Operating System maintenance & troubleshooting
Lesson 8 - More beginners Tips &Tricks

I hope to add a new lesson each month until all eight are posted. This is something I am doing in addition to regular life so please be patient if I don't make my goal :-) New tutorials will follow this first one as time allows, such as: Basic, intermediate and advanced Word, Excel, Internet & E-mail, plus many more.

Please help me to make sure these tutorials meet your learning needs by sending me a lot of & suggestions as you work through them, thank you.
